Jesse McCormick will be presenting on “Why the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Matters” on Friday, November 13th, 2015, at 12:30 pm, in the Faculty Lounge, 4th Floor, Old Main (OM4731). Jesse McCormick (Anishnaabe/Oneida) practices law on behalf of First Nations in Canada with a focus on major infrastructure projects. Jesse has served as the Senior Indigenous Fellow to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and Indigenous Peoples. He is a founding Board member of the Justice & Corporate Accountability Project (JCAP), an experiential learning initiative that provides mining affected communities in Latin America with legal support. Jesse has also served as a Special Assistant to the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian Affairs and he is currently the Vice President of Policy for the Aboriginal Peoples Commission of the Liberal Party of Canada.
