Professor Dagne will travel to India to participate in the Fourth Global Congress on Intellectual Property and the Public Interest, the most significant event for scholars and policy advocates working on intellectual property from a public interest perspective. He will make presentation on users’ rights in 3D printing technology in the User RightsTrack and at the Room of Scholars in the Congress.

Professor Dagne will also chair a session for presentations of scholarship on user rights across various fields of intellectual property law. In addition, he will discuss his ongoing research on traditional knowledge and intellectual property issues in the IP and Development track. He will also network with members of the Open AIR, unique collaborative network of researchers spread across 14 African countries, Canada, and elsewhere answering questions on how intellectual property policies and practices can be designed to benefit more people in both developing and developed countries. As part of this network, Professor Dagne previously completed research on whether and how Geographical Indications law can serve as place-based IP options for Ethiopian Coffee and Ghanaian Cocoa producers.
